Niger govt plans to construct new NYSC camp with N5 billionĀ

The government said the money was for a new NYSC camp and the sinking of five boreholes and toilets in the temporary camp.Ā 

The Niger Government says it plans to construct a new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp in the state with N5 billion. 

Governor Umaru Bago disclosed this during the swearing-in of the 2024 Batch B, Stream Orientation Course in Paiko in Paiko Local Government Area of the state. 

ā€œWe want to build a brand new NYSC camp. So, today we are putting N5 billion for a new NYSC camp and sinking five boreholes and toilets in the temporary camp,ā€ he said. 

The government also said it plans to empower 5,000 corps members with N10 million each for entrepreneurial ventures upon completion of their service.

Dr Jemila Ibrahim, the State Minister for Youth Development, said the fund would be part of her ministryā€™s soon-to-be launched National Youth Skills Programme (NYSP) to train over one million young people across diverse fields.

The government also announced a cash gift of N200,000 each for 1,600 corps members of the 2014 Batch B, Stream 1, 20 cows and a truck of rice to make them comfortable.
