A large-scale farmer, Alhaji Zayyanu Aliyu, has called on the Federal Government to enhance security and promote agriculture to achieve food security and alleviate the current hardship faced by the masses.
Aliyu made the appeal in a statement released to newsmen on Tuesday in Kaduna. He emphasized that improving economic opportunities and creating jobs could significantly enhance the standard of living for Nigerians.
He further stressed the importance of prioritizing quality education and healthcare, addressing corruption, and strengthening institutions and the rule of law. Aliyu urged the government to develop infrastructure, provide good road networks, ensure steady power supply, and offer adequate potable water.
“There should be access to credit and financial services, support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and empowerment of women and youth while promoting innovation and technology,” he added.
The farmer also highlighted the challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation to Nigerian farmers, urging the government to take necessary measures to address these issues.
