Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that his administration did not meet a functional zonal hospital across the entire state.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of Zonal Hospital in Bori town, Khana Local Government Area, Fubara assured the people of Rivers of his commitment to good governance and development of critical infrastructure in the state.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governor said his administration is working towards expanding four zonal hospitals to ensure quality healthcare service delivery to meet the needs of the people and address key issues in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and major policy objectives.

He added that healthcare, education, agriculture and some other key sectors are top priorities for his administration as these industries would be given uncompromised attention and optimal services.

Addressing Appeal Court judgement on Rivers lawmakers

Dispelling fears from the recent Appeal Court judgement which reinstated the 27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the governor said there is no cause for alarm among the people of Rivers State.

Also going biblical, Fubara said God has already prepared a table of blessings in the presence of his enemies.

His words, “I know that a lot of you will be wondering what is going on and all that. Government has its own challenges. If you go to the book of Psalm 23 verse 5, in the Bible, it said that God prepares a table before you; it can be before anybody.

“But there is an underlined word that should be noted there: it said ‘in the presence of your enemies’. So, it means that nothing comes easy.”

He assured the people that he was not deterred by the current situation in the state but rather committed to delivering on his promises to the residents of the state.

“But, like I said before, the worst is over. We are moving on to ensure that we continue to provide what is needed for the development of our state,” the governor said.

The political crisis between the former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and his successor, Fubara, has escalated, creating a significant rift within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Tensions arose from allegations of betrayal and power struggles, leading to intense public confrontations. This discord has not only strained party unity but also raised concerns about the stability and future governance of Rivers State while prompting calls for resolution and intervention.
