A lorry driver repeatedly rammed a van into a Pentecostal church near Vienna on Monday night, causing severe damage but no injuries, police reported.
The incident occurred in the town of Brunn am Gebirge. The 32-year-old driver, who has since been arrested, claimed that the church had “destroyed his life,” according to a police spokeswoman who did not provide further details.
The man has been living in Austria since 2020 and reportedly attracted attention a few weeks ago when he was seen ripping up a Bible.
A regional counter-terrorism unit of the intelligence service has launched an investigation into the incident.
