Nollywood actress and producer, Toyin Abraham is facing a backlash on microblogging site, X for allegedly facilitating the arrest of a user simply identified as Ayo.

Trouble started when Ayo, laid curses on Toyin Abraham accusing her of dragging Nigerians into untold hardship following her support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

Ms Abraham had during the campaign season identified herself as “Asiwaju baby” while claiming that Tinubu had shared his blueprint for good governance once he was elected president.

However, following the growing challenges faced by many Nigerians, Ayo took to X to throw harsh comments towards Ms Abraham and her family including her son.

Fazed by the action of the social media user and influencer, the Nollywood actress, petitioned the Nigerian policy citing cyberstalking and cyberbullying leading to the arrest of Ayo.

Allegations on X claimed that Ms Abraham had facilitated the arrest of Ayo’s mother and sibling before the young man made himself available to the Police in exchange for his family members.

This led to many Nigerians and social media influencers launching attacks on the actress with others threatening to report her Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Several others also wrote emails to the Netflix movie platform where most of Ms. Abraham’s movies are shown. Requesting that her films be removed from the platform, they threatened to boycott Netflix in their millions should Netflix fail to heed their demand.

Ms Abraham reacts

Speaking during a live session on her Instagram account, the actress refuted the claim that she bullied Ayo or any family member.

Ms Abraham said, “I said I wasn’t going to say anything anymore, but there are some things that you can’t accuse me wrongly of and expect me not to say something.

“I would not arrest anybody’s mum because I have a mother as well. I never arrested anyone’s mother. I have not committed any crime and I have only exercised my democratic rights, and they keep bullying me,” Ms Abraham declared.

The actress claimed she is prepared to confront bullies after expressing her displeasure with the criticism she has received online.

Many Nigerians across social media have subsequently launched a major attack against her, reporting her to Netflix and requesting that her films be removed from the platform. Many people have also threatened to boycott Netflix if it does not agree with their demands.

“I came online on social media to beg everybody to leave me the hell alone. As I am, I want to die. I am ready to die, but before I die, a lot of you bullies will die with me. You bullies have pushed me to the wall and I have gone insane.

“Now I want to die; I wish to die; I did not commit any crimes; I came out to beg you guys and tell you that I did not collect any money from anybody,” she continued.

Ms Abraham made it clear that she only filed a petition against individuals who had defamed and at no point did she order anyone’s arrest.

“I’ve had it up to here because you people cursed my child, but I did not arrest anybody’s mother. I simply wrote a petition, and they said I should go to the cybercrime department, which I did, and I wrote a petition there.

“The only reason I didn’t put Anthony was because he didn’t defame me; he only insulted me and I insulted him too. The truth would come out soon,” she explained.

Ms Abraham also alleged that some individuals have been paid to destroy her life and career.

Her words, “These people were paid to ruin my career and ruin my life, but I have not committed any crimes so I’m not scared.

“I am ready to die but before I die I will make sure that I won’t take it easy on everybody who bullied me and defamed me,” the actress cried.
