The President, APUDI Institute for Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation (APIS), Hamza Al-Mustapha, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, called for synergy to revive institutions in Nigeria.

Al-Mustapha, an aide to the late former Nigeria’s Head of State, General Sani Abacha made the call while speaking on the sidelines of the 2022/2023 End of Course Work Dinner Party and Awards Night of APIS in Abuja on Saturday.

The institute is a School of Postgraduate Studies and an affiliate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

The retired Major said that the country is in dire need of professionals who would help address the challenges faced by the country.

He also said that to tackle Nigeria’s challenges, there is a need for partnerships and support from individuals and organisations at home and abroad.

His words, “This country is in dire need of professional hands to support it at this critical time now that Nigeria is being faced with numerous challenges at home and outside.

“At home, Nigeria is certainly faced with certain challenges from the failed institutions across the country.

“So, there is a need to synergize, all hands together to get institutions revived for our common good,” Al-Mustapha said.

Advice to students graduating students of APIS

Addressing the graduating students of APIS, Al-Mustapha said this is the time for all to brace up and complete their course research works successfully.

He also urged the students to make efforts to come up with new issues and exhibit their innate qualities.

“My message is for them to be on their feet because they have just started until they are through with their research work, and finish in flying colours.

“Then the institute will acknowledge them, for their families and indeed the country,” he said.

Also speaking, the former vice chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Suleiman Mohammed, urged the students to carry out critical research that would generate knowledge, support policy and provide solutions to challenges in their chosen fields.

Professor Mohammed advised the students to ensure their research was original, noting that the era of going to other universities to get research topics was over.

His words, “We expect you to come up with research that will be relevant to the socio-economic development of the country.

“You must have a culture of excellence in your research work so you will be proud of yourselves and the nation will be proud of you too,” the former VC said.
