The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, has mandated the registration of all markets operating within the council.

Adesina announced the directive during the Lagos State Tree Planting Day celebration held at Jamatul Islamiyat Primary School, Ikorodu, on Sunday. The event’s theme was “Nurture Our Future.”

The chairman instructed market leaders to register their markets with the council secretariat. He emphasized that the registration is crucial for understanding the council’s infrastructure challenges, which will aid in planning, construction, and expansion.

“The registration is important for necessary planning and improvement,” Adesina stated.

He highlighted the importance of trees, noting that they provide oxygen, shade, shelter, and sustenance to countless species, including humans, and help combat climate change.

“By planting trees, we are sowing seeds for a better future. It is our collective responsibility to continually plant trees and work toward a sustainable future. Each tree is a symbol of hope, a promise of a greener and healthier tomorrow,” he said.

Adesina urged residents of the council area to plant and nurture more trees.
