The Russian Defence Ministry on Monday, July 22, claimed that its air defences repelled 80 Ukrainian drone attacks across several regions.

A Telegram message disseminated by the ministry said the Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed in six different regions.

Also, several explosions were heard in the Black Sea Port City of Tuapse, as the defence ministry said that debris from an intercepted drone caused a large fire in an oil processing plant belonging to the energy giant Rosneft.

While no injuries were recorded, Ukrainian media described the attack as a victory for Kyiv’s military intelligence services.

Russia’s ‘important oil facility affected

According to the media, the affected facility, which houses a major oil terminal, is important to the Russian war effort in Ukraine.

However, Russian authorities said the fire has been extinguished while several drone attacks numbering about 47 were recorded in the southern Russian region of Rostov.

The authorities noted that other attacks were intercepted over the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014.

For the past two years, Ukraine has been fending off the Russian invasion and has repeatedly targeted military facilities on Russian territory.

However, the damage caused by these attacks has been perceived as insignificant compared to the toll of Russian attacks in Ukraine attacks.
