The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has announced the deployment of new Sector Commanders across 20 states in the federation. This was disclosed in a statement by Acting Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Monday in Abuja.
Mohammed stated that the redeployment is part of a strategic initiative to drive the Corps’ policy thrust and enhance operational activities in the field commands. He emphasized that this move is fueled by a renewed commitment to reposition the Corps for better performance and quality service delivery.
The affected states and the new Sector Commanders are as follows:
- Plateau State: Corps Commander (CC) Maxwell Lede, previously the Principal Staff Officer II to the Corps Marshal, is now the Sector Commander, RS4.1.
- Kano State: The outgoing Zonal Head of Operations RS10HQ Sokoto, Mr. Tijani Muhammed, is now the Sector Commander, RS1.2.
- Jigawa State: Mr. Saliau Ibrahim moves from Kano Sector Command to Jigawa.
- Ogun State: The former Anambra State Sector Commander, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, takes over as Sector Commander.
Additionally:
- Adamawa State: The Zonal Head of Administration RS3HQ Yola, Mr. Yahaya Adikwu, is now Sector Commander, RS3.1.
- Gombe State: Mr. Samson Kaura, former Corps Commander in charge of Youth Safety Education, is now Sector Commander, RS3.2.
- Edo State: Mr. Cyril Mathew takes over as Sector Commander, RS5.1.
- Delta State: Mr. Frederick Ogidan, previously Sector Commander RS9.3 Abia, has been moved to Delta.
Further changes include:
- Anambra State: Mrs. Joyce Alexander, former CC in charge of the Academy at the national headquarters, is now Sector Commander.
- Rivers State: Mr. Taofeek Sokunbi, the outgoing Sector Commander Enugu, moves to Rivers, while Mr. Joseph Toby takes over RS6.2 Cross River.
- Akwa Ibom: E. Odiete is now Sector Commander, RS6.3.
- Bayelsa: Chichebem Onukwubiri becomes Sector Commander, RS6.4.
- Kwara State: Mufutau Irekeola moves from Delta to take over as Sector Commander.
Additional appointments:
- Abia State: Ngozi Ezeoma is now Sector Commander, RS 9.3.
- Enugu State: Franklin Agbakoba is the new Sector Commander, RS9.1.
- Imo State: AU Ugah, former Sector Commander RS2.2 Ogun, is now Sector Commander, RS9.4.
- Kebbi State: PI Ikaba, previously in Bauchi, has been redeployed.
- Ondo State: Mr. Samuel Ibitoye takes over as Sector Commander.
- Bauchi State: IA Ibrahim resumes as Sector Commander, RS12.1.
- Borno State: UA Muhammed takes over the command.
The FRSC Corps Marshal instructed the newly deployed Sector Commanders to report and “hit the ground” immediately, emphasizing the critical tasks and responsibilities ahead to enhance road safety.
