A Nigerian man, Babajide Adebanjo has set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest twerked period.

Adebanjo twerked for three hours and thirty minutes on January 14, 2024, in Lagos to accomplish this feat.

On its official website, GWR announced the accomplishment stating, “This record attempt was personal to Babajide as it was a way for him to get out of his comfort zone and to raise awareness for anyone suffering from depression around the world.”

According to GWR, Mr Adebanjo’s message is that no particular record was too crazy or too big to break.

GWR said, “His message is that no record is too crazy, too big, too great, or too little to achieve. There is always space for everyone and their unique attributes.”

On January 3, 2023, Austrian dancer Elena Sofie Sterlini set a record by twerking for two hours and one minute. Sofie set out to beat the record as a goal for herself.

Also, on November 15, 2014, at the Central City Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, Big Freedia and the group set a Guinness World Record with 406 twerkers simultaneously.

Ever since the Nigerian Jollof Queen, Hilda Baci, broke the world record for the longest cook-a-thon in June 2023, many Nigerians have been motivated to do the same in a variety of other fields.
