Nigeria’s Amusan leads into women’s 100m hurdles semi-finals

Amusan recorded a time of 12.49 seconds to win her heat ahead of America's Alaysha Johnson.

World record holder Oluwatobiloba Amusan has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100-metre event at the 2024 Olympic Games taking place in Paris.

Ms Amusan, on Wednesday, August 6, 2024, recorded a time of 12.49 seconds to win her heat, ahead of United States of America’s Alaysha Johnson who had a time of 12.61 seconds.

Also, Janeek Brown of Jamaica with a time of 12.84 qualified third place in the heat at the Stade de France.

The three women and 12 others, including Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, advanced to Friday’s semi-finals.

They will be joined by the next three fastest runners from the five heats, alongside those who would qualify from the repechage round by midday Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Races in the repechage round are scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, morning.

There would be a total of 21 runners fighting for three semi-final slots.
