The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved the hazard and shift allowances of the State Fire Service Agency.

The state Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, disclosed this on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, while hosting the agency’s management in her office in Ibadan.

According to Mrs Oni, the new welfare allowances were in response to the requests of the agency’s management.

“The implementation of the new hazard and shift allowances for the staff will further boost their morale and commitment to firefighting safety as well as their well-being,” she said.

The HoS also noted that the state government would purchase additional firefighting trucks and other equipment needed by personnel to improve the agency’s efficiency.

Urging staff of the agency to stand committed and dedicated to their duty, Mrs Oni said all hands must be on deck to ensure the state’s development.

Also speaking, the general manager of the agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka, appreciated the governor for approving the new allowances.

Mr Akinyinka said the gesture would boost the morale of the staff and enhance their effectiveness and efficiency to perform optimally.
