The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has clarified that Pretty Okafor remains suspended from the association until the conclusion of an ongoing investigation.
PMAN also stated that there is no internal crisis within the association.
In a statement released to The Nation on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, PMAN urged the public to dismiss any reports claiming that the National Executive Committee (NEC) has lifted Pretty Okafor’s suspension.
The association emphasised that such claims are unfounded.
The statement further noted that only the current Acting President, Sunny Neji, and the General Secretary have the authority to convene a NEC meeting.
It clarified that neither executive member is aware of any purported NEC meeting reversing Okafor’s suspension.
The statement read: “Please note that a NEC meeting can only be convened by the current Acting President, Sunny Neji, and the General Secretary. Both executives have no knowledge of the purported NEC meeting.”
PMAN reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and following due process within the organisation, assuring members and the public that the situation is under control.
