Napoli have reportedly reached an agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli over the transfer of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who has been offered a staggering contract worth up to N52.8 billion (€30 million) per year.
This potential deal, if finanlised, is expected to make Osimhen one of the highest-paid footballers globally.
Renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the details on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that the two clubs have finalised a deal valued between €75 million and €80 million, with Al Ahli already scheduling a medical for the Nigerian striker.
Romano added that Osimhen has been offered a four-year contract that includes a lucrative release clause, making it easier for him to return to European football if the opportunity arises.
“The contract is worth €25 to €30 million net per season, with an affordable and easy release clause,” Romano noted.
This translates to an annual salary ranging from N44 billion to N52.8 billion, placing Osimhen among the highest earners in the sport.
The inclusion of the release clause was a critical component of the negotiations, with Romano emphasising, “Victor always requested the clause as a key part of negotiations.”
Despite the agreement between Napoli and Al Ahli, the transfer is not yet finalised, as Osimhen is still considering his options, including a competing offer from Chelsea.
Earlier in the transfer window, Osimhen had agreed on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but a deal between the clubs could not be reached.
Arsenal are also reported to be monitoring the 25-year-old striker’s situation.
Osimhen’s decision could shape the rest of the transfer window, as the football world waits to see where one of the sport’s most sought-after strikers will end up.
