Chidimma Adetshina, former contestant in the Miss South Africa pageant, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.

The development comes weeks following her disqualification from the Miss Universe South Africa competition.

The news that “Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024,” was shared Saturday night by Africa Fact Zone in a video post on X.

Chidimma who represented Taraba State in the pageant, will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe grand finale in Mexico this November.

The post celebrated her victory, stating, “Chidimma Adetshina has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024! She’ll be representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe grand finale in Mexico this November. Congratulations, Chidimma.”

In her acceptance speech, Chidimma expressed that her victory was a call for unity, emphasising that her crown symbolises more than just beauty.

“This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity,” she declared.

Chidimma’s win marks a significant achievement in her pageant career, and she is now set to showcase her talents on the international stage later this year.

Daily Patriot reported how Chidimma withdrew from the South African pageant competition following a month-long investigation into her nationality.

The 23-year-old model, although born in Soweto, South Africa, faced scrutiny over her eligibility due to her Nigerian and Mozambican heritage.

According to reports, the controversy surrounding her participation in the beauty pageant intensified after the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for South Africa began probing claims that her mother may have committed fraud and identity theft.

Following her controversy, National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, invited her to compete in the just concluded MUN 2024.
