The summer transfer window set a new record with over 11,000 players transferring clubs globally, totaling $6.46 billion in spending, according to FIFA’s International Transfer Snapshot report for June 1 to September 2.

This marks the highest player movement in history, surpassing the previous record of 10,490 transfers in 2023 when $7.43 billion was spent.

English clubs led in spending, shelling out $1.69 billion on new players and receiving $1.25 billion from outgoing transfers.

They also topped the charts in the number of players arriving (526) and departing (523). Notably, even smaller English clubs like Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Ipswich Town each spent over $100 million on new talent.

Italy followed with $825 million spent, ahead of France ($697 million), Spain ($599 million), Germany ($572 million), and Saudi Arabia ($431 million).

Italian clubs notably spent nearly double the $425 million they earned from player sales, while French clubs generated more revenue ($756 million) than they expended.

The window’s biggest transfer was Argentine forward Julian Alvarez’s move from Manchester City to Atlético Madrid for approximately €75 million ($83 million), including add-ons.

In women’s football, spending more than doubled from last year to a record $6.8 million, with a record 1,125 player transfers, up from 853 in 2023, highlighting the sport’s growing market.
