Tito Jackson, brother of the late pop icon Michael Jackson and a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5, passed away at the age of 70.

His death was confirmed by his family on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

In a statement shared by his children, TJ, Taj, and Taryll, the family expressed their grief: “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us.

“We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being, the statement said.

Mr Jackson, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson, was the third of the nine Jackson siblings and played a pivotal role in shaping the family’s musical legacy.

The Jackson 5, which included Tito alongside his brothers Michael, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon, became one of the most successful groups of the 1960s and 1970s.

Known for their signature Motown sound, the group skyrocketed to fame with hits like “I Want You Back” and “ABC,” with Tito playing guitar in the band.

Mr Jackson’s passing marks another heartbreaking loss for the family, which has endured several tragedies over the years, most notably the death of Michael Jackson in 2009.

He remained involved in music throughout his life, both as a solo artist and as a member of The Jacksons, the later incarnation of the Jackson 5.

His work earned him recognition in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside his brothers.

According to reports from Entertainment Tonight, Tito Jackson’s death was caused by an apparent heart attack.

His sudden passing has left the music world mourning the loss of yet another figure from one of its most iconic families.
