The Katsina government has donated N3.5 million to the families of seven deceased police officers who lost their lives combating banditry in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement in Katsina on Wednesday.

He said the support was presented to the families by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Mr Aminu Usman-Gusau, on behalf of the Commissioner, Mr Aliyu Abubakar-Musa.

ā€œThis heartfelt gesture awarded by the Katsina State Government aims to support and honour the sacrifices of these brave police officers.

ā€œEach of the families was presented with the gift of N500,000 as a token of appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice made by our fallen colleagues,ā€ he said.

According to him, Mr Aminu-Gusau prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased officers.

He stated that the command stood in solidarity with their families and acknowledged their selfless service.

He commended Governor Dikko Radda for the gesture, adding that it demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of the families of officers.

Mr Aminu-Gusau said, ā€œThey have paid the supreme price in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in the state.ā€
