In a major upset, Anthony Joshua has suffered the second knockout defeat of his career, losing to fellow Briton Daniel Dubois in a highly anticipated heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Mr Dubois, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight champion, delivered a dominant performance, controlling the fight from the first round.

Mr Joshua, a former unified world heavyweight champion, was knocked down twice during the bout before his opponent landed a devastating right hand in the fifth round that sent him crashing face-down to the canvas.

Although Mr Joshua made an effort to get back to his feet, the referee quickly waved off the fight, cementing Mr Dubois’ victory.

This defeat is a significant blow to Mr Joshua’s career, marking his second knockout loss after his 2019 upset by Andy Ruiz Jr.

The loss further complicates his path to reclaiming a world title, with hopes of a third championship reign now more uncertain.

Mr Dubois, however, solidifies his standing as one of the top heavyweights in the division with this decisive win.
