Activist VeryDarkMan has accused rapper and activist Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, his father and renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of corruption.

The accusation comes in the wake of an audio clip allegedly involving controversial social media personality Bobrisky.

Recall that EFCC had arraigned Bobrisky on naira abuse and money laundering charges, but dropped the second charges. He was released from prison on August 5, after being sentenced to six months on April 12, for abuse of the naira.

In the audio clip, which has since gone viral, Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, allegedly claimed that he did not serve jail time in a formal prison but paid his way to be kept in a “secret home”.

Bobrisky alleged that Falz was involved in the cover up and that a payment of N10 million was paid to Mr Falana to erase his name from any official criminal records.

In the recording, Bobrisky, it was said, claimed that Falz helped in orchestrating the cover-up to help him avoid prison by being kept at the “secret home”.

The allegations go further to claim that Falz’s father, the eminent lawyer Mr Falana, received N10 million to “wipe” Bobrisky’s name from public and legal records, ensuring that no traces of the case or his detention would remain.

VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken stance against corruption and social injustices, has called out the EFCC for their alleged role in aiding Bobrisky’s supposed escape from justice.

The allegations have sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation into the claims made in the audio clip.

In a statement by its chairman, Ola Olukoyede, EFCC invited VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office “to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery.”

Mr Falana, known for championing justice and accountability, has not responded to the accusations, nor has his son, Falz, who in recent years has managed to carve for himself an image of a vocal critic of corruption and government failings.

However, Bobrisky has denied the allegation. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, he said, “I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”
