An Area Court at Centre-Igboro in Ilorin on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, granted custody of four children to their mother, Olomu Ajibola, to enable her to take proper care of them.

The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, while ruling said nobody had the right to deny a mother access to her children, even if the father was legally granted custody.

Mr Ajumonbi therefore granted the custody of the four children to their mother, since the father did not have any evidence to prove otherwise.

The court said the father however had unrestricted access to the children and should be responsible for their feeding, school fees, medicals and welfare to the best of his ability.

“The parents should never take the children out of the jurisdiction of the court, except on mutual agreement of the parents,” the judge said.

He however said the mother shall cease to have custody the moment she remarries.

The father of the four children had on April 16, 2024, applied for divorce and custody, with the wife agreeing to this.

But he had not been allowed to see the children since then.
