House of Reps begins consideration of N419.8 billion FCT supplementary budget

The House of Representatives on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, began consideration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) 2024’s N419.8 billion Supplementary Appropriation Bill.

The bill presented by the Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere (APC-Edo) followed a request by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. 

Presenting the bill, Mr Ihonvbere said that of the N419.8 billion, the sum of N38.06 billion is for overhead costs while N381 billion is for capital expenditure.

He urged members of the House to support the bill for the effective running of the FCT.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas referred the bill to the House Committee on FCT for further legislative actions.

Also, at a meeting which took place shortly after the plenary, members of the FCT committee resolved to give an accelerated hearing to the bill. 

The Chairman of the Committee, Aliyu Betara (APC-Borno) said that the committee will lay a report on the bill before the house for further consideration and adoption.
