Controversial Nigerian social media influencer Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a lawsuit against fellow content creator, VeryDarkMan, demanding N1 billion in damages.

The lawsuit stems from allegations made by VeryDarkMan that Bobrisky paid to be kept in a “secret house” to prevent him from serving jail term for an offence.

In an alleged audio clip, Bobrisky was said to have claimed that his “godfather,” along with Haliru Nababa, the Controller General of prisons, allowed him to serve jail time in a private apartment rather than in prison.

The crossdresser claimed that the allegations by Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, that he paid N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped, were falsified with the use of AI technology, and also damaging to his reputation.

Bobrisky, through his legal team led by A.R Omuviwie, wants N1 billion for defamation and reputational damage. He had earlier given VeryDarkMan 24 hours to retract his comments or face legal consequences.

VeryDarkMan has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit or the ultimatum.

Following the release of the alleged audio recording, the EFCC invited both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan for questioning.

In addition, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the bribery claims against the NCoS.

The Daily Patriot reported last week that the House of Representatives had initiated a formal investigation into the bribery allegations involving EFCC and NCoS.

Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2024, for abusing the naira, was released on August 5.
