The White House in a statement on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, said President Joe Biden has directed the United States Forces to aid Israel’s defence against Iran.
Mr Biden’s directive comes hours after Iran launched hundreds of missile attacks against the Jewish state.
Sean Savett, US National Security Council spokesperson said Mr Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “are monitoring the Iranian attack against Israel from the White House Situation Room and receiving regular updates from their national security team.”
According to the spokesperson, Mr Biden has “directed the US military to aid Israel’s defence against Iranian attacks and shoot down missiles targeting Israel.”
The statement comes after Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said it had targeted Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles.
