The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has expressed its readiness to actively participate in the proposed 30-day National Youth Confab announced by President Bola Tinubu during his Independence Day broadcast.

“It is our belief that this conference shall go a long way in resolving various contentions in our national life and put Nigeria on a solid and irreversible path to progress and prosperity,” the group said in a statement.

In the statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chika Art Adiele, the apex Igbo youth leadership organisation in Nigeria and the diaspora welcomed the convocation of a conference “to address issues affecting Nigerian youths.”

Recall that President Tinubu had, during the broadcast to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary, approved a national youth conference “to address the diverse challenges and opportunities confronting our young people…”

The president said the 30-day confab will unite young Nigerians across the country to “collaboratively develop solutions to issues” on education, employment, social justice, security and innovation, for his government to implement.

The Ndigbo youth group said it was satisfied with the government’s desire to engage with young Nigerians, and would work with “organs of government in the Southeast and relevant youth bodies to ensure that Igbo youths are effectively represented at the conference.”
