Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has donated medical and other relief items worth N180 million to victims of flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno.
Mr Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, said this in a statement on Friday in Jos.
Governor Muftwang, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, during presentation of the items, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the victims.
“This is our token of our solidarity. Plateau government is providing these relief materials to support the ongoing efforts of the Federal and Borno state government.
“While we know these items cannot replace what has been lost, we hope they bring some comfort during this difficult time.
“We stand united with Borno government and we pray that such disasters never occur again,” Governor Mutfwang was quoted as saying in the statement.
The items include four trucks loaded with cartons of Swan table water; 100 bags of groundnut cake, 100 bags of garri, 100 bags of millet and sorghum, 100 bags of maize and 20 cartons of milk.
Others are 25 bags of sugar; 100 bags of beans, 50 bags of salt, 50 jerrycans of palm oil and 50 cartons of groundnut oil, 5,000 loaves of bread, 200 cartons of biscuits and 50 cartons of liquid detergent.
