Afolabi Michael, a 70–year-old man based in Lagos State has been arrested for defiling an 11-year girl.
Mr Michael was arrested by operatives of the Lagos Police Command on September 27, 2024, after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint against him.
While Mr Michael confessed to engaging in deep romance with the girl, he denied having intercourse with the pre-teen.
He further claimed to have been suffering from
erectile dysfunction for many years and could not have engaged in such an allegation against him.
Confirming Mr Michael’s arrest, the Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the incident was brought before the Gender Unit of Lagos State Police Command for discreet investigation.
According to MrHundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, the matter was transferred from the Iju Police on September 27, 2024, following a complaint from the girl’s mother.
He said the girl’s mother informed the police that Mr Michael allegedly defiled her daughter in July 2024, when she was on vacation.
Hundeyin said, “She stated further that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the survivor multiple times.
“The suspect was cautioned in English Language where he confessed that he romanced the survivor, though he denied having sexual intercourse with her claiming that he has been suffering from a weak erection for many years now.
“However, the suspect has been arraigned in court for defilement on October 10, 2024 l, and has been remanded,” he said.
