Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has warned politicians against utterances that could incite Nigerians to protest against President Bola Tinubu government.

“I will strongly advise those politicians who are calling people to protest against the government to desist or be ready to face the law,” Mr Oyintiloye said.

A member of the defunct APC presidential campaign council, Mr Oyintiloye made the remarks while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo. He called for prayers and support for the president.

He said Nigeria’s challenges required understanding and collaborative approach towards finding lasting solutions and not comments that could lead to unrest.

Admitting that Nigerians were experiencing hardship, the chieftain said, “There is no doubt that the economy is not in its best shape, but this is just temporary.

“The President is working assiduously to ensure that the economy is brought back to shape for Nigerians to enjoy.

“While we are waiting for that, I do not think inciting the masses against the government is the best way to go.”

Mr Oyintiloye said any politician hiding under the hardship in the country to incite Nigerians against the government should be regarded as an enemy of the country.

The former lawmaker said it was unpatriotic for people, no matter their status, to incite the masses to protest, and called on the security agencies to ensure those inciting Nigerians to take to the street in protest are dealt with.
