Train crushed 50-year-old man to death in Lagos: Police

The victim, simply identified as Emmanuel, was allegedly crushed to death by a moving train in Oshodi, Lagos.

The police in Lagos has confirmed that a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, was allegedly crushed to death by a moving train on Tuesday.

Confirming this on Sunday, the Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the incident happened on Tuesday at about 9:00 am at ARENA Shopping Complex area, Oshodi.

He said a woman, who claimed to be the younger sister of the deceased, reported the accident to the Mosafejo Police Division at about 1:33 pm.

Mr Hundeyin said the woman reported that she got a phone call that her elder brother was allegedly crushed by a moving train while walking along the track.

The spokesperson said that following the report, the accident scene was visited and photographed by a team of detectives.

He said that the corpse was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy.

Mr Hundeyin said the case has been handed over to the Railway Police Command, Ebute-Metta for further investigation.
