Governor Umaru Bago of Niger has congratulated former head of state Yakubu Gowon on his 90th birthday.
In a statement by Mr Bologi Ibrahim, his Chief Press Secretary, on Saturday in Minna, Governor Bago described the former Nigerian leader as a symbol of humility, unity, and patriotism.
He recalled Mr Gowon’s leadership and the peace building policies he initiated and implemented for Nigeria’s unity.
The governor said Mr Gowon had written his name in gold and posterity will be kind to him.
“It is delightful to celebrate a great leader with high moral standard on his birthday and God will continue to protect Gowon,” the governor prayed.
