The Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, has been declared wanted by the Kano State Hisbah Board over an allegation of adultery.

This was disclosed by the commander general of the board, Aminu Daurawa on Monday, October 21, 2024.

The board’s decision comes barely after the state governor suspended the commissioner who was alleged to have been caught with a married woman in an uncompleted building.

Speaking at a press briefing, Mr Daurawa said the embattled commissioner was earlier caught through intelligence tracking after receiving a series of complaints from the woman’s husband, Nasiru  Bulama.

According to Mr Daurawa, the woman’s husband accused Mr Sankara of allegedly engaging in an illicit affair with his wife.

He reported that his wife, Tasleem Nabegu, is the mother of his two children.

“We wanted to settle out of court by inviting both families, only the husband showed up, while the commissioner refused to honour the invitation but later escaped after he was bailed from Hisbah,” Mr Daurawa said, noting that the matter has been taken to court.

He urged the people not to hesitate to report to Hisbah any illicit activities they found to be going on in their neighbourhood.

On his part, Mr Bulama appealed to the State Government and other relevant stakeholders to come to his aid and help him get justice.

According to him, it is a crime for any married person to engage in illicit affairs.
