Barely 24 hours after her dismissal by President Bola Tinubu, the former minister of women affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye appreciated the president for an opportunity to serve the nation.

In a statement posted via her X account, the former minister said she wished to express her sincere gratitude to the president.

Mrs Kennedy-Ohanenye said it has been a privilege to contribute to the development process of Nigeria under the administration of President Tinubu.

She also extended her gratitude to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu for her invaluable guidance and support during her tenure as Minister of Women Affairs. 

She said, “Her (Mrs Tinubu’s) kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success.

“To the people of Nigeria, I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration.

“I remain committed to serving my country and will continue to do my utmost to contribute to its progress and prosperity,” Mrs Kennedy-Ohanenye said.

Mrs Kennedy-Ohanenye was relieved of her duty as the minister of women affairs by the president on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

She was dismissed alongside four other ministers including those from the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development.

The president also announced the nomination of seven new ministers while reshuffling his cabinet and merging two ministries.
