The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has appointed a professor of Constitutional Law and Governance, Edoba Omoregie, as the varsity’s new Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the Governing Council of UNIBEN, announced the appointment on Friday in Benin.
Mr Umaru said Prof. Omoregie emerged the 11th vice-chancellor of the university out of the 27 that applied for the role.
The new vice-chancellor, also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), would take over from Prof. Lillian Salami whose tenure ends on December 1.
Born on April 5, 1969, Prof. Omoregie is a native of Benin and attended UNIBEN for his first, second and third degrees.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and conferred with the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2021.
