The Katsina State Government, on Friday, October 25, 2024, inaugurated a consequential adjustments committee for the implementation of the new minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Katsina, the state’s Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal-Jobe said that the committee would be headed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Garba-Faskari.
Mr Lawal-Jobe listed the committee members to include the State Head of Civil Service, Falalu Bawale, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Bello Kagara, and the Commissioner for Finance, Bashir Tanimu, who is also the supervising Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Others are the Accountant General, Auditor-General, ALGON Chairman, NULGE Chairman, Chairman of the State Internal Revenue, as well as, NLC and TUC Chairmen.
According to him, the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Establishment and Training will serve as secretary of the committee.
He said that the committee was given three weeks to submit its report.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Garba-Faskari, thanked the government for finding them worthy of the assignment and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He solicited the maximum cooperation from the members, to enable the committee to work out the modalities for the implementation of the new minimum wage in good time.
In a related development, the Deputy Governor also inaugurated a visiting panel committee to review the activities of the Colleges of Health Science Technology in the state.
The committee, to be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Faisal Umar, has two weeks to submit its report to the state government.
