The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has directed the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, to ensure security is provided during the repairs of electricity towers in the country.

Mr Badaru said this is in conformity with the directives of President Bola Tinubu, who is concerned about the development in view of the recent collapse of the grid due to third party interference.

This is contained in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence.

The grid collapse resulted in widespread power outages across Northern Nigeria, causing significant disruptions to citizensā€™ lives.

The minister said that the directive to the CDS was therefore imperative to prevent interference from non-state actors as workers repair this critical national infrastructure.

According to him, the goal is to prioritise the repairs and ensure the gridā€™s functionality for the benefit of all citizens.

He urged all Nigerians, particularly those in affected states, to remain patient and show understanding as efforts are underway to address the situation.
