Group advises ministerial nominee Nentawe Yilwatda against corrupt practices

The Forum of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Plateau, has called on Nentawe Yilwatda, the incoming Minister of Human Affairs and Poverty Reduction, to shun all forms of corruption when he assumes office. 

Christopher Damcher, a reverend and the chairman of the forum in a statement congratulated Mr Yilwatda on his nomination, however, charged him to live above board and discharge his duties diligently.

Mr Damcher also called on the incoming minister to use his office to bring succour and alleviate the suffering of the many displaced persons scattered all over the state due to prolonged attacks on communities. 

“As a forum representing CSOs across various sectors working in Plateau, we extend our solidarity and heartfelt congratulations to Dr Nentawe Yilwatda on his nomination as minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction. 

“We believe this move brings hope for the citizens of Plateau, especially those affected by displacement and its repercussions on their well-being and dignity. 

“While the ministry has previously been marred by allegations of corruption, we trust that Yilwatda’s track record of diligence and integrity will steer the ministry away from such challenges. 

“We urge him to exercise wisdom in his leadership and avoid the pitfalls of corruption or potential blackmail that may arise,” he advised. 

Mr Damcher, particularly thanked President Tinubu for the choice of a Plateau man to steer the affairs of such a strategic ministry. 

“We are particularly pleased that Plateau has been chosen for such a pivotal ministry, given the many challenges we face, especially in humanitarian efforts.

“Our colleagues in the field have often been limited in their work due to inadequate funding and lack of governmental support, in spite of the pressing needs of displaced citizens, particularly women and children,” he added.
