Israeli PM Netanyahu, Macron of France, other world leaders congratulate Trump

The world leaders in their messages are describing Mr Trump’s win as “Impressive” and “history’s greatest comeback!”

World leaders have started sending their congratulatory messages to United States president-elect Donald Trump, following his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5, 2024 U.S. presidential election.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote: “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!”

Mr Netanyahu, who appears to be the first world leader to officially congratulate Mr Trump on his victory, added “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”

In a short message to Mr Trump on X, France President Emmanuel Macron said: “Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he looks forward to “a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership,” and was relying on the continued bipartisan support for Ukraine in the U.S. to bring an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Mr Zelensky said Ukraine’s interest was in “developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation” with the U.S.

“Ukraine, as one of Europe’s strongest military powers, is committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Europe and the Transatlantic community with the support of our allies,” he added.

He ended the post saying that he looked forward to personally congratulating Mr Trump and discussing ways to strengthen their countries strategic partnership.

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, in a statement on X by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, called on Mr Trump, saying, “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”

The Nigerian president said Mr Trump’s return to the White House “will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States.”
