A Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State on Thursday, November 7, 2024, ordered that a 37-year-old man, Justin Bala should be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a minor.

Mr Bala was charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) with defilement, contrary to section 209.

Magistrate Michael Bawa declined to take the plea of Bala for lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter.

Mr Bawa directed the prosecutor to forward duplicate copies of the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

He adjourned the matter until November 14, 2024, for further mention.

Earlier, the NSCDC prosecutor, Marcus Audu, told the court that the victim’s mother, Gloria Isaac, reported the matter at the Corp’s office in Kafanchan on October 10, 2024.

Mr Audu said the defendant lured the complainant’s five-year-old daughter into his room at Fadan Kagoro and defiled her.

He added that Mr Bala also asked the girl to kiss him and warned her not to tell her mother or else he would kill her.
