Nigerian singer Michael Olayinka, also known as Ruger, has opened up about what sets him apart in the live music scene and makes him a highly sought-after performer.
Taking to social media, Ruger explained that his distinctive stage presence and dynamic personality play a key role in his success, far beyond just performing hit songs.
According to the artist, engaging an audience requires more than a popular tracklist; it’s about captivating fans with an unforgettable live experience.
“Let me explain to you why I get booked so much,” Ruger wrote on his X handle. “I don’t just come on stage to sing (which I know I’m good at); I bring my whole personality on stage – it’s not a joke.”
He added that while many artists rely on hits, he believes the energy and personality he brings to his performances have helped him build a strong demand among fans and event organisers.
“It’s not by having hit songs, you can have a million hit songs and still be clueless on stage at a 200-capacity venue.”
In another tweet, he expressed: “Now, let’s talk about the gaddamn autotunes on the mic when y’all perform. Next time, tell your engineer to shut it down when you’re about to speak coz you be speaking in Tunez wahalaaaaaa.
“Well, Ruger don’t need that shit. thank you,” he said.
