Indian Prime Minister Modi arrives Abuja, appreciates Tinubu over warm welcome

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on Saturday, November 16, 2024, arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city on an official visit.

Mr Modi who was received by a team of Nigerian delegation led by the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the minister of state for foreign affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu also commended President Bola Tinubu for a warm welcome.

In a post made on his official X account, the Indian PM said he hopes his visit to Nigeria deepens the bilateral relationship between the giant of Africa and India.

His words, “Thank you, President Tinubu. 

“Landed a short while ago in Nigeria. Grateful for the warm welcome. May this visit deepen the bilateral friendship between our nations,” Mr Modi said.

In a previous post which was quoted by Mr Modi, President Tinubu said he looks forward to welcoming the Indian PM to Nigeria.

He said, “I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria, which is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our dear country since 2007.”

The president also said that with this visit, the two countries would seek ways to expand the strategic partnership between Nigeria and India.

He also stated that the two countries would fashion out ways to enhance cooperation in critical sectors.
