The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa is excited about the arrest of seperatists leader Simon Ekpa in Finland, the Defence Headquarters has said.
In a statement issued on Thursday, November 21, 2024, the DHQ said General Musa has expressed happiness over the arrest of Ekpa by Finish Police.
Signed by Major General Tukur Gusau, DHQ spokesperson the state said the arrest of the factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a step in the right direction.
Mr Tukur also said that with Ekpa’s arrest, it is expected that his extradition to Nigeria will soon take place for him to face Justice.
The statement said, “CDS is happy with his arrest in Finland, with the hope this will be a step towards his extradition to Nigeria so that he will face justice.
“We are delighted about his arrest and glad that the international community is partnering with Nigeria in our fight against terrorism,” the statement said.
Recall that the police in Finland announced the arrest and detention of Ekpa on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
A local Finish newspaper reported that Mr Ekpa was arrested alongside four others for terrorism activities including inciting violence.
A Finish police chief also stated that Mr Ekpa has used his social media channels to invite violence.
