Controversial social media sensation on singer Darlington Okoye popularly known as Speed Darlington has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police.
Daily Patriot gathered that Mr Okoye was arrested upon his return to Nigeria for a show in Owerri, the Imo State’s capital city.
The singer’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju in a post on X on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, confirmed Mr Okoye’s arrest.
According to Mr Adeyanju, his client was arrested upon his return to Nigeria earlier in the week.
While the details of his arrest was not made public, Adeyanju posts says, “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
Recall that Mr Okoye was earlier arrested by the Police over cyberstalking allegations by another Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, with the stage name Burna Boy.
He was then transferred from Lagos to Abuja and was detained by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
Mr Okoye was later released on bail after numerous outrage by Nigerians and human rights activists on social media.
