Volleyball: Kano Pillars triumph over NCS in 3-2 victory

Kano Pillars men’s volleyball team on Thursday secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the ongoing 2024 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.

The final phase of the 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League, which started December 2,  is expected to end on December 15, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The match saw Kano Pillars come from behind to win 3-2 (14-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12) to record their second victory in the competition.

The match was a nail-biter, with NCS  taking the first set 25-14, but Kano pillars fought back to win the next set 25-17  and in the third set,  NCS won by 25-20 points.

However, Kano Pillars refused to give up, winning the fourth set 25-22 and ultimately taking the match with a 15-12 win in the final set.

Other results saw COAS spikers defeating Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-17 ), NSCDC beating Spartan Spikers 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23) and  Kada Emeralds defeating Olalomi Royals Spikers 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17).

The Chief of Naval Staff  spikers defeated Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)  3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-13) .

In the women’s category, Life Camp Volleyball Club  edged  Benue Queens  3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-13, 20-25,15-13 ) and while NAF Rockets lost to NCS Ladies 0-3 (21-25, 10-25, 18-25).

The 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League sponsored by the NCS, features 24 teams (12 men’s and 12 women’s) competing in the final phase.

The competition is organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) in collaboration with the NCS.
