Angolan and Adana Demirspor midfielder, Antonio Muanza, completed the full 90 minutes of a football match despite receiving news of his brother’s passing during halftime in his side’s game against Besiktas on Monday.

The PUNCH reports that in a statement obtained from ESPN Africa X handle on Thursday, Muanza chose to complete the game helping his team secure their first Super Lig win of the season.

At the end of the game, his teammate Semih Güler rallied fans and players to chant and console him.

I’m Muanza, also known as ‘Maestro,’ learnt of the tragic news but still wanted to return to the field and contribute to his team, which ultimately secured a great result. This was despite Adana Demirspor coach Mustafa Dalci suggesting that he be substituted.
