Soludo declares traditional ruler election invalid in Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has annulled the supposed election for the position of the traditional ruler in Oba Community, located in Idemili South Local Government Area.

He further instructed the state police to arrest anyone who claims to be the traditional ruler of the community, according to Daily Trust.

The governor emphasised that no legitimate election was held to select a new Igwe for Oba and declared any actions taken by the community regarding the matter to be illegal and criminal.

Chief Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Town Union Affairs, representing the governor, explained that there is an ongoing court case concerning the election of a new traditional ruler for the community.

Soludo clarified that until the court case is resolved, Oba will remain without a monarch.
