According to The PUNCH, President Bola Tinubu, on December 18, presented a ₦47.90 trillion budget to the National Assembly, naming it the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.”

In the proposed budget, a significant ₦4.91 trillion was earmarked for defence and security, emphasising the administration’s commitment to tackling the nation’s security concerns.

An in-depth analysis of the appropriation bill reveals that the EFCC has allocated ₦808.7 million solely for fuelling its vehicles, while another ₦462 million is earmarked for refreshments and meals for the year.

Similarly, the DSS budgeted ₦1.37 billion for vehicle fuelling, and the sum of ₦1.4 million for procuring tactical counter-terrorism equipment.

Also, the sum of ₦1.4 billion was proposed for arms and ammunition procurement, and ₦1.1 billion for advanced cybersecurity tools.

In a broader context, the DSS, alongside other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has allocated ₦960 billion in 2025 for maintaining the nation’s defence aircraft and procuring security equipment across various sectors, further reflecting the administration’s focus on fortifying national security.
