Mercy Chinwo Blessed has responded to recent allegations made by the CEO of her former label EeZee Conceptz and former manager, Mr Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZee Tee.

In a video she uploaded on Instagram on Tuesday, 29 January, an emotional Mercy Chinwo narrated her ordeal to her over 4 million followers.

“He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life. It got to a point where I had to move from Lagos to Port Harcourt because this man made the environment toxic for me. Whatever he’s doing on social media now is nothing compared to what I went through.”

She further alleged that EeZee Tee took her to court, not the other way around, as he said.

“He came online to tell the public that I took him. Here are the documents. You took myself and Minister Judikay to court, and you’re here playing the victim game. You bullied me. You threatened my life…

“You have connections. You have money. What did I do? What have I done for you? I took you as a father. I was your backup singer. I served you diligently.”

Going further, she alleged that her former manager tried to get her to sign a 12-year contract, which she refused to do. This, she said, made him start “acting funny.”

“We signed a management contract in 2017. As we progressed, you tried to convince me to sign a 12-year contract which I said no to. Since then you started acting funny. Always toxic because I did not extend the contract.”

She made other allegations about his views on popular figures in the Christian community, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze.

“One of my major crimes was when I did a song with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey. Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, he went as far as posting fake news about an innocent child. My son.

“And you said my son was not my son. And you, you paid bloggers because you hate Pastor Jerry. You won’t want me to go for his event. The people you fight, I must fight them with you.

“And when I ask you questions: ‘why don’t you like them?’ You start harassing me.”

Wrapping up the video, she stated: “He said you made me who I am, and you have the power to destroy me. You are not God and you cannot destroy me. You have bloggers. I have God.

“The worst you can do is what you are doing. Like I said, what I went through working with you is nothing compared to what you are doing. You have bloggers. I have God, and I know that God will not let your plan come to pass.”

The post has since been greeted with prayers and kind comments from her fans.

In response to Mercy Chinwo, EeZee Conceptz, in a post released on the label’s official page, said: “There was never a period when EeZee Tee made any attempt to intimidate her with contractual provisions.

“These are all elements of creative deception with the innocent and unsuspecting members of the general public as targets. Like every other lies told, this will only expose her true nature of deceit to the world.”

The statement, which was made by the label’s legal practitioners, Maxwell Opara & Associates, further alleged that “Mercy Chinwo started fueling an unhealthy rivalry with label mates, claiming that the Company was diverting her bookings to them. She also accused the Company of paying more attention to other artistes.”

The statement outlines other serious allegations against Mercy Chinwo by claiming “At the peak of her career, Mercy Chinwo started diverting revenue to her personal account.

“This was easy to execute for her because she had started managing her booking line by herself at that time. With the benefit of hindsight, she deliberately orchestrated the allegations of booking diversion to the said label mate so as to be able to take charge of her booking and divert booking revenue.

“Mercy boycotted already scheduled events, dragging the Company into disrepute. She was charging churches huge amounts of money and falsely representing to them that the Label was the cause of such absurd charges. Till this very day, Mercy Chinwo has refused to give account of all the booking revenue she diverted to her personal account in flagrant breach of her agreement with the label.

“We state without ambiguity that every royalty or revenue generated from the commercial exploitation of Mercy’s catalog by the Company was communicated to her and her split promptly disbursed to her.”

The statement further read that Mercy attempted to use the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) to intimidate Eezee Tee and had him unlawfully detained.

“The claim by Mercy Chinwo that Eezee Tee was the first to file an action against them is FALSE. Mercy Chinwo was indeed the first person to leverage on her relationship with some officials of the EFCC and certain powerful people in the gospel industry and the country to intimidate Eezee Tee.

“She filed a petition against Eezee Tee in faraway Ilorin and kept him in detention at the EFCC office llorin for nine days as a result of the conspiracy in April 2024. Eezee Tee’s first law suit against Mercy Chinwo was to prevent another harassment by the EFCC on very flimsy grounds and that was on 16th July 2024 when he filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos to challenge the breach of his fundamental human rights at the EFCC office and his unlawful detention.”

Daily Patriot recalls that Judikay, Mercy’s former label mate at EeZee Conceptz, also came out recently to address what she called “misinformation circulating the media about my professional relationship with my former record label, EeZee Conceptz.”

Outlining her grievance in a statement shared on her social media account, she said: “My contract with EeZee Conceptz began in February 2019. However, from 2019 to 2023, I was never granted access to my backend nor allowed to receive payments directly from their source. All receipts sent to me were created by the label, and I accepted them in good faith, trusting my former boss without question.

“Before the customary closure meetings at the expiration of my contract, I began discovering significant financial discrepancies. These findings were later confirmed during the closure meetings. At this point, I requested an audit of my financial dealings for the first time in years.

“Since my contract officially ended in February 2024, I sought proper closure through my lawyers. Despite repeated requests, the label’s lawyers claimed that I had no right to an audit, which was contrary to the terms of our agreement.

“In early 2024, after exhausting all peaceful 3/5 avenues, I sought the intervention of a government agency. However, upon the counsel of Apostle Anselm Madubuko, a respected father in the faith, I suspended the case. Apostle Madubuko assured us that justice would prevail for all parties. Though I could not attend the meeting personally, I was duly represented.

“During this conciliatory meeting, Mr. ThankGod Ezekiel agreed to cooperate with an independent audit. Unfortunately, subsequent actions by EeZee Conceptz contradicted this agreement. The label failed to provide complete or accurate records, obstructed the audit process, and disseminated misleading public narratives.

“One such instance involves a video shared by the label’s social media accounts, purporting to show a meeting between Mr. ThankGod and me in 2024. To set the record straight, this video was taken during a closure meeting in 2023, not in 2024 as falsely claimed. I have not met with Mr. ThankGod at any point since my agreement ended in February 2024.

“Our auditors sent a formal email on June 6, 2024, requesting documents that the label had withheld during the audit. On June 7, 2024, the label’s lawyers acknowledged receipt of the email, however, we received no further response.”

The gospel artiste said in her statement that she had decided to walk away from the feud.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to step away from this entire noise as regards this case. While my pursuit of justice is important, it pales in comparison to my role as a member of the body of Christ and my commitment to protecting the sanctity of His name.

“I am deeply grateful for your vote of confidence, immense love and laborious intercessions over me in these times.. To my family, the gospel music community, and all who have stood by me-thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

She concluded by saying, “My focus remains unwavering, and my commitment to glorifying Jesus through this < ministry the Lord has graciously committed into my hands, remains steadfast.”
