At least six people, including two soldiers, have been killed and an unspecified number of people wounded when Boko-Haram terrorists ransacked a village in Gwoza local government area of the southern part of Borno State, local sources said.

BusinessDay gathered that the terrorists rode on utility vehicles to storm Yamtake village in Gwoza local government area on Thursday night, some 11 kilometres away from Gwoza town, the former headquarters (Caliphate) of Boko-Haram terrorists.

According to a local government official who does not want the name mentioned, the entire village was razed by the invaders after the troops were overpowered.

The source added that the terrorists are currently occupying the village as landmines were planted on the road linking the village with Gwoza town.

“They killed six people including two soldiers and four hunters who are supporting the troops. The wounded are currently on their way to Maiduguri,” the local source said.

Another security source expressed concerns over recent rampaging attacks by the terrorists.

“We learnt the reinforcement troops are mobilising to dislodge the terrorists, but as we speak, the Boko-Haram are currently in the village because the village was completely burnt down.

“It is sickening, and we must re-strategise to be able to curb this resurgence in the southern part of the state,” the security source added.

It would be recalled that in recent weeks, Boko-Haram terrorists have intensified their campaigns in Borno, resulting in the killing of soldiers, the dislodgement of military formations and the killing of civilians.
