The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), the ruling political party in Kano State, says there is no truth in the claim by the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Abdullahi Abbas, that its presidential candidate in the 2023 election wants to leave the party.
Hashimu Dungurawa, state chairman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), said this in a statement circulated to Journalists in Kano.
According to BusinessDay, the statement is coming on the backdrop of recent disclosure, Abdullahii Abbas, that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is planning to decamp from NNPP to join the APC.
Hashimu says that Kwankwaso has no intention of joining Tinubu’s corrupt government.
Abbas had warned that Kwankwaso’s plan to join the APC would not shield him from a probe.
Hashimu noted that Kwankwaso did not need to consult anyone before making any political decision, emphasising that the former Governor of Kano state has no plans of leaving NNPP, where he remains the National Leader.
“We have no business with APC, and do not have any intention to defect,” he said.
He described the rumour as baseless and the handiwork of mischief-makers.
According to him, the NNPP administration in Kano State is taking shape and restoring law and order in the ancient commercial city.
