The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it’s prepared to welcome Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom, if he chooses to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released Wednesday, Felix Morka, the APC’s national publicity secretary, responded to comments by Governor Eno comparing the PDP to a malfunctioning aircraft.

During a recent event in Akwa Ibom, Eno suggested the PDP plane “can no longer fly safely” and suggested the need to look at other options.

According to BusinessDay, the APC spokesperson embraced these remarks, agreeing with the governor’s assessment of the PDP.

“We couldn’t agree more that Plane PDP has become demonstrably inoperable and unsafe for travel,” the statement reads.

“As safety and comfort are prerequisite conditions for flying, our great party assures the governor that Plane APC is fit and ready to fly His Excellency and entourage to their desired destination.

“Our pilots and crew are highly competent, welcoming, attentive to detail, and on standby to serve.

“We assure Governor Eno that a flight with us will be a mighty good ride to remember.”

On Monday, the PDP’s national working committee (NWC) held an emergency meeting to address the recent wave of defections affecting the party.

Following this meeting, Umar Damagun, acting national chairman of the PDP, announced that the party’s national legal adviser has been instructed to take action regarding Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta state governor, and other members who have defected to the APC.
